Description: The Kenya School of Government (KSG) was established by the KSG Act (No. 9 of 2012). The School is the successor of the former Kenya Institute of Administarion (KIA), Kenya Development and Learning Centre (KDLC) and the Government Training Institutes (GTIs) Mombasa, Matuga, Embu & Baringo. KSG is a State Corporation established to offer management training, research, consultancy and advisory services to the public sector. The School has been instrumental in setting up fast track management strategies through observance of high standards of integrity, competence, ethics and a culture of transparency whilst implementing the provisions of her mandate. Today it offers services to both National and County governments, private sector players as well as those from the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). KSG will also contribute to the transformation of the public service into functioning effectively, innovatively, and in a results-oriented and accountable manner. The School will be guided by this Strategic Plan (2012/2013 - 2016/2017) which outlines the princi pal strategic direction, the implementation strategies, and the relevant monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. Job Descriptions

 

Job Descriptions at this level will entail:-

 

Developing and reviewing menus;

 

Supervising food preparation (mise-en-place) and production;

 

Maintaining stock items for production;

 

Receiving produce as per specifications;

 

Forecasting food production needs;

 

Maintaining food production records;

 

Monitoring work orders on equipment;

 

Taking stock of the food stores; and

 

Supervising staff working under the officer.

 

Job Specifications

 

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

 

At least nine (9) years cumulative relevant work experience, three (3) at the grade of Chef I or in a comparable position;

 

Diploma in either pastry and bakery, culinary art, food production (both mass food production and a lar carte) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

 

Certificate of medical examination in line with the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substance Act;

 

Certificate in Supervisory Skills Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;

 

Proficiency in computer applications; and

 

Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
