Job Summary:
A laboratory assistant supports the doctor in preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and performing basic lab tasks. They also assist with data collection, analysis, and record-keeping, ensuring a safe and organized laboratory environment. Their duties often include following established protocols, adhering to safety guidelines, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the research or testing process.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Preparation: Preparing samples for testing, including collecting, labelling, and storing them according to procedures.
Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning, sterilizing, and calibrating laboratory equipment, as well as maintaining an inventory of supplies.
Data Collection and Analysis: Recording experimental data, performing basic calculations, and potentially assisting with data analysis.
Following Protocols: Adhering to established laboratory procedures and safety guidelines, including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of experiments, results, and equipment maintenance.
Administrative support: Assisting with administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies and organizing lab space and supporting lab personnel on the daily tasks.
Maintaining a Clean and Organized Workspace: Ensuring the laboratory is clean, safe, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must have at least a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or other relevant fields
Must be registered member and have a valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board
At least 2 years of experience as laboratory assistant.
Knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and policies.
Must demonstrate Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
