Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate a Production engineering Intern, who is deeply aligned with our mission and values.
Responsibilities:
- Work with BasiGo OEM’s and vehicle engineering to develop the local assembly strategy for electric vehicle products from CKD kits.
- Develop assembly process for local assembly of electric vehicles including assembly line planning, assembly process, work instructions, and requirements for tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Build estimates for production time, throughput, and labor requirements as part of the design process for a new vehicle assembly line.
- Design assembly process and assembly line that can meet targets for throughput, cost, and quality.
- Set up the production line for new vehicle products and components.
- Manage production validation builds at the factory for new vehicle products and components.
- Manage handoff of the production process for new vehicles and components to BasiGo’s manufacturing operations team.
- Ensure the material requirements and assembly process for new vehicles are comprehensively documented with supporting training materials as required
- Support assembly process training for internal staff and partner staff.
- Support manufacturing operations in logging, analysis, documentation and resolution of production issues as they arise.
- Engineer continuous improvements to process, instructions, and tooling to realize improvements in production throughput, efficiency, and quality.
- Ensure that product and process changes from engineering follow strict change control procedures so as to prevent issues with output, safety, and quality.
- Manage H&S requirements in the design of the production line.
Our ideal candidate would have:
Experience & Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
- Some experience working in automotive engineering and/or manufacturing would be preferred
- Fluency in 3D and 2D CAD Systems such as SolidWorks, Catia, Wildfire, OnShape, and/or AutoCAD to a university or college level understanding is a must
- Some understanding of manufacturing of vehicles or vehicle components with a preference for electric vehicles
- Some understanding of the planning of assembly lines and production systems.
- Understanding of automotive systems with a preference for electric vehicle systems.
Skills & Attitude
- Strong technical presentation skills
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Ability to work on a production line resolving issues.
- Detail-oriented across all aspects of vehicle engineering, safety, and quality
- Demonstrate ability to independently manage and execute technical projects
