Job Description

Overview:

  • Manage and lead a team of fitters, laminators, welders and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective repair and maintenance operations. Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure that all work is completed within set timelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the production process, drawing up a production schedule
  • Planning and organizing production schedules.
  • Ensure that the production is cost effective and economical
  • Making appropriate Gannt charts and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment, plant and machinery
  • Ensuring that quality standards are met during ob. process and final quality controls.
  • Monitor product standards and implement quality control programmed
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
  • Ensure bi-weekly tool inspections and training (on/off) for team is conducted.
  • Ensure that appropriate protective gears are worn, and the health and safety guidelines are followed
  • Ensure that the correct Bill of Material’s (BOM’S) are in place before commencement of any production process.
  • Decide what resources are required in manpower, materials
  • Liaising with the stores department in acquiring needed materials for production.
  • Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI\'s) are monitored, and targets achieved.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and ‘Standard Operations’ adhered to
  • Ensure that non-conformance is challenged, and counter measures are agreed and implemented
  • Motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced
  • Through the utilization of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to exceed the Company targets in productivity, efficiency and quality on a continuous basis
  • Support the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, model change and pilot build
  • Report and act upon plant or machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians
  • Work with managers to implement the company\'s policies and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Planning and organization skills to be able run and monitor the production process
  • The ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems
  • The capacity to grasp concepts easily
  • ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programmes
  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
  • Ability to interpret drawings, 
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers and clients
  • The ability to work underpressure and motivate others to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
  • Full understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
  • Significant work experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Production/Management)
  • Experience and/or certification in welding and fibre glass is required.

Performance Requirements:

  • Work safely 100% of the time.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10% in-productivity.
  • Perform duties within set standard timelines
  • Maintain an attendance percentage of 97% or better.
  • Maintain less than 2 timekeeping errors per month.
Salary: KShs. 50,000 - KShs. 100,000
