Key Responsibilities:
- In line with AfricaNenda's existing communications strategies and under the supervision of the Communications Director, the selected consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks (non-exhaustive list):
- Integrated PR and Media Strategy:
- Develop and execute an integrated PR and media plan, including strategic guidelines, content engagement, amplification, and measurable KPIs.
- Position AfricaNenda as a thought leader and influencer in the digital finance and financial inclusion ecosystem through strategic media initiatives.
- Support the communications team building and maintaining a national, regional, and international media coalition around AfricaNenda, captured in a comprehensive media database.
- Strengthen relationships with key journalists, media outlets, influencers, and thought leaders, particularly in Francophone Africa.
- Event Media Coverage:
- Ensure strong media coverage for AfricaNenda's major events, including the State of Inclusive Instant Payment Systems (SIIPS) in Africa Report launch, flagship publications, and key engagements.
- Organize and coordinate press conferences and media briefings as needed.
- Write and disseminate press releases, media pitches, op-eds, and other promotional materials.
- Media Outreach and Monitoring:
- Secure regular media appearances for AfricaNenda's leadership team (e.g., interviews, opinion pieces, blogs).
- Monitor and report on media performance, providing regular updates with media clippings, detailed KPIs, and actionable insights.
- Deliver a calendar of media deliverables, updated regularly.
- Content Creation and Messaging:
- Produce high-quality written and multimedia content, ensuring alignment with digital media trends and AfricaNenda’s mission.
- Craft compelling narratives and thought leadership pieces tailored tthe financial services and digital inclusion audience.
- Provide support for ad-hoc media relations tasks beyond planned activities, as requested by the Communications Team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 6–10 years of senior-level experience in public relations, strategic communications, and/or media relations, with a focus on Africa.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape across Africa, with a proven track record of securing high-profile placements in leading business, trade, and lifestyle publications.
- Proactive and consultative mindset with the ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and deliver impactful results.
- Demonstrated success in managing high-impact media campaigns, engaging senior stakeholders, and providing strategic advice on complex PR and media issues.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting tight deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with digital finance and financial inclusion topics is a plus.
