Our client is a credit-only microfinance company looking to hire a Debt Recovery Officer. The job holder is responsible for ensuring non-performing loans are repaid through calling, visiting, text messaging and emailing clients to discuss their payment options and negotiate on repayment terms.
Responsibilities.
- Check client accounts in the system to ascertain that they are non-performing, find out the issue that the account has and come up with probable solutions to present to the client. Make telephone calls, field visits, texts and emails to the clients with the aim to come up with a payment plan options for debtors.
- Maintain a positive client relationship with the company by providing information or advice to the client on how to manage their debt and keep up their payments.
- Monitor the amount paid by the customer and make sure the clients adhere to the agreed payment arrangement by agent’s supervisor to prevent them defaulting on their promises to pay obligations.
- Work within the set collection processes and policies and continually identify areas that require improvement to ensure attainment of departmental set objectives in performance and customer satisfaction so as to improve the quality management system.
- Ensure accurate notes are updated after each account activity and negotiation with the customer on the debt management systems, to indicate agreement reached with the customer in terms of the collection option that will be implemented to enable pulling and preparation of performance reports.
- Give reports for the Delinquency Manager on the assigned debts portfolio including commentaries and insight of the individual account’s recovery progress, highlighting any collection trends within the portfolios. This information is to assist in identifying ways of improving collections
- To work within the set collection processes and policies and continually identify areas that require improvement to ensure attainment of departmental set objectives in performance and customer satisfaction.
- To work with the quality analyst to maintain the quality standards set for full customer experience.
- To constantly give suggestions that assist align and improve the loan application and repayment process.
- Mentorship of new agents and all agents in lower levels within the department
Qualifications:
- Diploma in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in a similar role from an organisation of similar size
- Experience in the micro lending sector
- Knowledge in Debt collection legislations
- Computer literacy esp. Excel packages
- Debt management systems & software
- Report writing
- Basic skip tracing skills
- Must be willing to travel
