Job Description

Reporting To: Programs Director 

Industry: NGO

Classification: Fulltime (40 Hrs / Week)

Consultant Fee: Ksh 229, 609

The Program Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of high-quality programs that focus on DfG Menstrual Health Education and the distribution of DfG Washable Pad Kits across Kenya. This includes supporting Kenyan Social Enterprises to achieve shared goals, contributing to administrative functions, and advancing advocacy efforts aligned with the organization’s mission.

  1. Programs (approx. 75%/30 hours per week) 
  • Grant & Project Implementation 

Responsible for oversight and smooth implementation of Menstrual Health projects in Kenya 

  • Set clear objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets to guide project execution effectively.
  • Facilitate and oversee the day-to-day implementation of grant activities, ensuring compliance with donor policies and regulations.
  • Develop and execute detailed work plans and corresponding budgets to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage project implementation, ensuring alignment with the organization’s 
  • Ensure project design, implementation, and evaluation are core values, strategic priorities, and quality standards.
    • Responsive to community and partner needs, incorporating regular updates and feedback.
    • Aligned with DfGI’s core values, theory of change, and quality benchmarks.
  • Apply a results-driven approach to deliver high-quality outcomes within the established timelines and budgets.
  • Integrate community-based capacity-building and gender-sensitive approaches into all project activities.
  • Foster and maintain a culture of equityrespecttransparency, and appreciation with colleagues, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Identify potential risks and implementation challenges, proactively developing solutions in collaboration with DfGI staff and partners.
  • Ensure efficient deployment of funds according to approved budgets, adhering to DfG best practices in authorization, accountability, and reconciliation.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure that projects are sustainablescalable, and impactful.
  • Submit funding requests for project implementation to the Programs Director.
  • Contribute to the development of high-quality content for all interim and final reports, ensuring timely submission.
  • Collaborate closely with the Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation Associate to ensure accurate data collection and impact reporting in line with donor requirements.
  • Address and resolve challenges during project implementation to meet all deliverables successfully.
  • Ensure close coordination and collaboration with cooperating partners to facilitate smooth implementation of activities and achieve the results specified in grant agreements.
  • Responsible for supporting the development and execution of project deliverables, coordination of project planning, budgeting, action plans and monitoring processes;
  • Social Enterprises 
  • Coordinate with the DfGI Chapter, Social Enterprise Programs Team, and Global Advocacy Director to ensure that Social Enterprises deliver high-quality menstrual health Kitseducation, and advocacy in alignment with DfG guidelines and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Programs Director to establish annual, country-wide Social Enterprise goals and ensure these objectives are communicated clearly and regularly to all Social Enterprises.
  • Provide ongoing support to Social Enterprises, fostering strong partnerships and driving alignment toward shared goals.
  • Ensure data is consistently collected and analyzed to track progress against established goals and outcomes. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that motivates Social Enterprises to work collectively toward a unified vision.
  • Leverage interpersonal and motivational skills to enhance collaboration, promote innovation, and encourage the adoption of creative solutions.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders and partners to advance program objectives and ensure the long-term sustainability of initiatives.
  1. Admin (approx. 25%/10 hours per week) 
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the Product Operations Director to discuss updates and align on priorities.
  • Hold weekly check-ins with the DfGI Programs Director and submit a monthly report to keep leadership informed of progress and challenges.
  • Participate in the bi-monthly DfG Kenya staff meetings, contributing to team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide timely content for:
    • DfGK Board reports
    • Interim and final grant reports
    • The monthly Kenya newsletter (distributed internally to the DfGK Board, staff, and Social Enterprises).
  • Support internal communications by drafting and distributing newsletters, updates, and reports to stakeholders and team members.
  • Assist the Product Operations Director with:
    • Enhancing organization and corporate governance practices.
    • Strengthening legal and compliance controls at the Kenya Program Office, as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and organized documentation of all activities, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and timelines.
  • Project Management Experience: At least 5+ years of experience managing projects in complex global environments.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Public Health, Community Development, Women and Gender Studies Dev, International development, Social and Behavioral Change, or other fields relevant to SRHR and women’s development.
  • Project Delivery: Proven experience in delivering projects that align with organizational values and strategic objectives.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite products and other office software/hardware applications.
  • Experience operating various office equipment.
  • Language Proficiency: Written and oral fluency in Swahili and English is required.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality reports and updates.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within Kenya
  • Self-Motivation and Adaptability: Strong ability to be self-motivated, take initiative, and adapt to dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills:
    • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and project management skills.
    • Comfortable managing multiple projects and coordinating with diverse team members.

    • Ability to work collaboratively and establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in intercultural communication and maintaining inclusive and respectful engagement across diverse backgrounds.

    • Equally capable of working independently and effectively managing tasks.

  • Flexibility: Willingness and availability to work flexible hours aligned with international time zones, not exceeding 40 hours per week.
