Job Description

Every day will be different, but every day you will:  

  • Lead groups through breathtaking landscapes, from safaris to remote villages, sharing the unique stories and cultures of East Africa with our travellers. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service, whether it's assisting with travel logistics, ensuring the safety of the group, or managing unexpected situations like lost passports or medical needs. 
  • Execute tours within budget, following the itinerary, and handling your administrative duties with care and precision. 
  • Create unforgettable experiences by facilitating cultural exchanges, from visiting local villages to arranging meals with local families, all while showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of East Africa. 
  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to Intrepid’s Responsible Travel philosophy, ensuring sustainability and respect for the environment and local cultures. 

To be considered you must have:  

  • A passion for travel and belief in Intrepid Group’s responsible travel philosophy. 
  • Outstanding communication skills in English and Swahili (additional foreign languages proficiency is highly valued!). 
  • Proven experience in customer service with the ability to build meaningful connections with diverse groups. 
  • 1+ years of experience in the travel industry. Driver guide experience highly desired. 
  • Experience working with groups in outdoor environments, preferably in Africa or other adventure-based destinations. 
  • A diploma in tour guiding and operations (or similar)  
  • Experience in budgeting and handling large sums of money. 
  • The physical fitness and mental resilience to handle long days, challenging conditions, and being away from home for extended periods. 
  • A sense of humour and the ability to inspire others through your love of travel!
