We serve African children and youth in Kenya, Zambia and the Nuba Mountains area in Sudan. Our first program in Zambia was established in the year 1980, while in Kenya, we began in 1990. In 1995, Koinonia in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan was established.
Job Description
To ensure efficient and effective day to day running of social activities in the project and the welfare of all beneficiaries (direct and indirect) are well observed. This should be done in line with Koinonia community policies on beneficiary protection and care within the delegated authority of a results-based management framework.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Deals with all matters relating to the day-to-day welfare of participants
- Promote team work in the facilitation of participant’s activities with other members of staff and volunteers.
- Facilitate quality participant sessions in line with their rehabilitation care plans. This involves facilitation of programs in psychosocial support, mentorship and education
- Coordinate and plan with the other staff members on internal control systems, work schedules and follow ups such as community, home, hospital and school and visits
- Prepare annual and monthly and weekly work plans as well as progress reports for the social department in conjunction with other departmental staff
- Prepare accounting records, inventory, asset register, periodic financial reports and budget for all the participants and hand them to the team leader on time for monthly requisition and liquidations
- Conduct needs assessments and case studies of participants in the project
- Maintain and update participant’s personal files and database
- Liaise with the project team leader on plans affecting participant’s placement, reintegration issues and family-based interventions.
- Plan and conduct weekly, monthly meetings with the parents and the community
- Ensure effective communication, mobilization and networking with other relevant organizations for referrals and support in the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of participants.
- Enhance project efficiency and effectiveness through implementation of follow-up activities with various stakeholders, including monitoring of Koinonia inputs, local conditions and resources
- Compile Participants related training and orientation materials to promote knowledge sharing with other members of staff, donors and all other stakeholders
- Knowledge /experience in working with street connected families and children
Management of the family Support programme
- Assist in the development of strategies relating to the program
- Follow ups and support the community volunteers in the project implementation
- Hold monthly meetings with CVs to review progress of activities
- Implement all activities within the family support program
- Propose measures for program strengthening especially of the support groups
- Hold regular reviews and assessment with all participant’s /target groups support groups community volunteers and contact persons and identify areas for improvement
- Maintain a healthy relationship at all times between the staff, families and contact persons
- Develop case plans with all care givers enrolled in the programme
- Review the family case plans periodically.
Data Management and Protections
- Combine and rearrange data from source documents where required, enter data from source documents where required into computer database file and forms.
- Transcribe information into required electronic format, scan documents into document management systems or databases and store completed documents into designated locations
- Respond to requests for information and access relevant files while ensuring compliance with data integrity and security policies
- Ensure that data on all program participants is accurate and up to date as per the set standards/ frequency updating and review (every 3-6 months)
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Project team leader.
Minimum Requirements and experience
- Diploma in Social work or related field with basic accounting skills will be an added advantage.
- Computer literacy a must: working knowledge of MS office required;
- Experience in capacity building which includes facilitation of community-based training and awareness
- Good knowledge of children rights and abuse prevention
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- No less than 2 years’ previous work experience.
