Many job seekers are losing trust in the hiring process because of one growing problem: ghost jobs.
Too often, positions are advertised even though the role has already been promised internally or a decision has already been made.
Candidates don’t know this.
They spend hours tailoring their resumes, preparing for interviews, and investing hope into the process, only to discover there was never a genuine opportunity.
This doesn’t just disappoint candidates.
It damages your employer brand.
Transparency matters.
If a role has been filled, communicate it clearly.
If priorities have changed, say so.
Honesty saves time, builds trust, and strengthens relationships with future talent.
Candidate experience is part of your reputation.
Let’s normalize transparency and accountability in hiring.
Do you agree? 👇

Please don't post a vacancy if the candidate has already been chosen.
For you, it may be just another job posting.
But for someone else...
It's a sleepless night spent updating a CV.
It's hours of preparation before an interview.
It's hope that "maybe this opportunity will change my life."
Every application represents a person with responsibilities, dreams, and a family depending on them.
When the hiring decision has already been made, but the job is still advertised, candidates aren't just wasting their time, they're investing their emotions in an opportunity they never truly had.
Transparency doesn't cost anything, but it means everything to job seekers.
Let's make hiring more honest, more respectful and more human.
Because behind every resume is a real person not just another application.
If you agree, let's start this conversation.

Recruiters advertise roles. Candidates apply. We go through screening, virtual interviews, salary discussions. You promise feedback. Then… silence.
Weeks turn into months.
Later, you resurface with explanations, schedule another interview, discuss benefits, allowances, start dates, even promise an offer letter in two days. The candidate celebrates. Then—ghosted again. For 3–4 months.
This is not just “business.” It affects real people, real bills, real emotions.
Professional communication should not be optional.
If plans change, say so. If the role is closed, inform us. Respect candidates’ time and dignity.
What is really going on?

If a candidate knew the role, the responsibilities, and the salary (because it was clearly mentioned in the job description) and still applied, they did so by choice.
They didn’t “accidentally” apply.
They didn’t misunderstand the level.
They didn’t miss the compensation range.
They applied because the role aligned with what they want right now.
Yet time and time again, strong candidates are screened out with the assumption that:
▪️ “They’ll get bored”
▪️ “They’ll leave as soon as something better comes along”
▪️ “They’re too senior for this”
Let’s pause and question that logic.
In today’s market, professionals are intentionally redefining success. Some want stability. Some want better work-life balance. Some want to step away from constant pressure. Some are changing industries. Some are prioritizing mental health, family, or flexibility over titles.
Experience does not automatically equal flight risk.
As recruiters, our role is not just to filter — it’s to advocate and educate.
It’s our responsibility to help hiring managers see the full picture, not just a résumé that looks “too strong.”
Instead of rejecting candidates outright, why not:
▪️ Ask why they’re interested
▪️ Have an honest conversation about expectations
▪️ Trust adults to make informed career decisions for themselves
When we assume we know what’s best for candidates without asking them, we’re not protecting the business — we’re limiting it.
The job market is already hard enough.
Let’s stop complicating it with outdated assumptions.
If someone chooses the role, respects the salary, and is excited about the work — let them be considered.
Talent deserves curiosity, not convenience.
🙏🙏

🚫 No update. No closure. Just silence.
Having worked closely with founders, CEOs, and decision-makers, I know this: in most cases, a hiring decision is formed quickly after an interview. Whether it’s a yes or a no, there’s usually clarity early on.
That’s why, if you’re at the stage of interviewing candidates, a simple follow-up is not optional—it’s basic professional courtesy.
Even when there are internal delays or decision bottlenecks, responding when a candidate follows up matters. Ghosting leaves people anxious, frustrated, and feeling disregarded.
Candidates invest time, effort, and hope into every interview.
Respect their time.
Respect their effort.
Respect their journey.
Because ghosting doesn’t just hurt candidates—it quietly damages your employer brand too.

Role is chaotic? Say that.
Process is slow? Say that.
Hiring manager is... particular? Take a breath, then say that.
Candidates are adults. They can handle reality. What they can't handle, and won't forgive, is being sold a dream and waking up three weeks in wondering what happened.
Radical honesty in recruiting isn't just the right thing to do. It's also the smart thing.
Better fit hires. Fewer surprises. Less ghosting.
The best recruiters I know lead with truth and still close great candidates, because of it, not in spite of it.
Stop selling. Start being real.

Because you already did.
Silence.
This is a message to hiring managers and recruiters:
Please take time to respond to all applicants.
Even a “no” is a response and a very important one.
For candidates, feedback brings:
.Closure
.Direction
.The ability to move forward
No response leaves people stuck, doubting, and waiting.
Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles.
It’s about respecting time, effort, and human dignity.
A short rejection email can make a big difference.
Silence shouldn’t be part of the hiring process.

That silence hurts more than a rejection email.
Because candidates don’t fear “No.”
They fear not knowing.
What ghosting does:
Creates self‑doubt
Drains confidence
Makes job search emotionally heavy
Damages trust in companies
What recruiters can do:
Give closure
Share real timelines
Stop disappearing after interviews
A simple update can save someone weeks of anxiety.
Silence sends a message — so send the right one.

A good friend of mine traveled 2 hours, prepared slides, took a day off…
...only to get:
“Unfortunately, we are not moving forward.”
All because the budget wasn’t approved.
💡 Honesty doesn’t demotivate.
⏳ Wasting time does.
It’s okay to say:
“This role is on hold due to budget constraints.”
Respect candidates’ time like you expect them to respect yours.
Every interview… every resume… is someone pausing their life for your opportunity. 🙏

Behind every application, there is real effort:
• Hours spent searching for the right opportunity
• Time invested in customizing the CV
• Days of waiting with genuine hope
• Extra preparation when shortlisted
• And finally, giving 100% in the interview
After all this… silence feels unfair.
A short update — even a simple “not moving forward” — takes minutes but means a lot.
It reflects professionalism, builds mutual respect, and strengthens your employer brand.
Hiring is not just a process.
It’s a human experience.

Behind every interview, there is a person quietly rearranging their life.
Preparing documents late at night.
Researching the company.
Imagining relocation.
Planning accommodation.
Calculating financial transitions.
Hoping for growth.
Candidates don’t only send CVs — they send trust.
But too often, after promising conversations and encouraging words… silence happens.
No update.
No closure.
No response.
Being “ghosted” in recruitment is more common than many organizations realize—and its impact is real. Not only professionally, but emotionally.
Professionalism should never stop at the interview stage.
A simple message such as:
“We are still reviewing,” or
“We decided to move forward with another candidate,”
can make a huge difference.
Because recruitment is not only about evaluating candidates.
It is also about demonstrating company values.
Talent is not defined by age.
Not by appearance.
Not by first impressions alone.
Sometimes, while companies are searching for the right person, they may not realize they are overlooking individuals who are ready to contribute, grow, and become long-term assets—true diamonds within the organization.
This is not a complaint.
This is a reminder.
Respect in communication is one of the simplest—and most powerful—forms of leadership.

Hours of preparation, deep research, and nerves. Then, a 60-minute interview where you give it your all. The result? "We'll get back to you soon."
Days turn into weeks, and sometimes months. The candidate is left in limbo—caught between hope and frustration. We need to acknowledge a hard truth in the hiring world:
• Rejection doesn’t hurt; being ignored does. Most candidates can handle a "No." What they can’t handle is their time and effort being completely disregarded.
• Candidate experience is a mirror of company culture. If the very first interaction lacks transparency and respect, it raises serious red flags about the internal work environment.
• Silence kills momentum. Keeping a candidate "hanging" without any updates drives top talent to look elsewhere. You aren't just losing a candidate; you're losing your reputation as an employer of choice.
A message to every recruiter and hiring manager: A simple "Thank you, but we’ve decided to move forward with another candidate" respects our time far more than a month of ghosting ever will.
