Limuru Senior Principal Magistrate Jared Magori has granted detectives from Lari sub-county police headquarters 15 days to hold 24 years old Jane Muikia.
Muikia is suspected of strangling her one and half-year-old son and afterwards dumping the body in a pit latrine.
It's suspected that on February 16, 2023, she strangled her one and half-year-son and went to her parents' home. The parents demanded to know where the baby was, to which she gave questionable reasons, prompting them to report the matter at Kimende Police Station.
While filing a miscellaneous application after arraigning the murder suspect, Investigation Officer Elvis Onyango requested the court to grant them more days to complete the investigations and also to conduct a mental health assessment on the suspect.
The suspect will be detained for 15 days at Lari Police Station and the case will be mentioned on March 8.
