High cases of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) were reported among Kajiado County residents during a free medical camp held at Ildalalekutuk, Kajiado Central on Saturday.
According to health officials, the cases of UTI among Kajiado residents are caused by various factors, among them lack of enough drinking water (dehydration) and also clean water for bathing.
The other diseases that were found to be common in the region are trachoma and eye cataract.
Many of the diseases are said to be caused by the lack of clean water in the region.
Another health problem reported by the doctors is underweight, especially in expectant and lactating mothers, who are the most affected due to lack of food.
Residents of Ildalalekutuk turned out in large numbers on Saturday to receive free treatment and food relief as well.
The drought that has been witnessed for a long time in Kajiado County has caused challenges as the pastrolists depends on their livestock as the backbone of their economy.
Kajiado Senator Samuel Seki and Woman Representative Leah Sankaire have asked the County referral hospital to provide medical attention to affected persons.
The health camp by Spread Truth Organisation in collaboration with the County government brought more than thirty medics and nurses dealing with various diseases such as cancer, dental, eye diseases to attend to residents.
