Bertha Omita scored the lone goal for Vihiga in the first half, as they picked their second consecutive win, having started off with a 3-1 victory over Zanzibar’s New Generation.
Omita struck in the 36th minute with a brilliant goal, breaking the offside trap to run to a through ball from midfield before lofting it over the keeper.
Just before the goal, Omita had shown her intent with a well struck low shot but it was saved by the Kigali keeper.
The Rwandese side didn’t cause much of danger for Vihga, who defended well and limited their mistakes. Omita should have had a second in the dying minutes of the match when she was sent through by Eunice Mwangi, but her blistering shot was punched by the keeper.
Vihiga will now take on Tanzania’s JKT Queens on Saturday in their last group match and victory will assure them of topping Group B.
The Tanzanian champions have also assured themselves of a place in the final, after winning their second match against New Generation.
