Vihiga Queens will be keen to bounce back to their winning ways when they play Kangemi Ladies at the Gems Cambridge International School, Nairobi on Saturday.
The four-time Kenya Women Premier League champions are placed second on the standings behind Gaspo who have made a surprisingly brilliant start to their campaign.
The club’s head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu said they are well prepared for the match as they seek to use the experience from the newly signed players to win the match.
“We are very ready for Kangemi having being prepared well throughout the week. We watched Kangemi playing against Wadadia last weekend at Mumias and despite losing 4-1, they were a tough side.
“We shall respect them going to the match and I believe the new eight players we have signed in this mid-season transfer window will push our agenda of winning the title,” Nyamunyamu said.
Early this week, Vihiga signed eight players including forward Bertha Omita who arrived as a free agent and defender Dorcas Neema.
Omita joined after she was released by India Women Premier League side Gokulam Kerala with Neema acquired from Bunyore Starlets.
“We know that Gaspo are currently leading the log but I want to assure our fan that it’s just matter of time before we ascend to our normal position, only two points separates us and that’s not something for them to brag about.
Our aim is to win the title and represent East Africa region in the third edition of the Caf Women Champions League.
Elsewhere at Camp Toyoyo, bottom placed Kayole Starlets will host Wadadia, as Ulinzi Starlets will square it out with Bernard Kitolo coached side Zetech Sparks.
Three matches are lined up for Sunday whereby former Champions Thika Queens will host Trans Nzoia Falcons at Thika Stadium, Buyore Starlets will visit Kisumu All Starlets at Moi Stadium in Kisumu while Gaspo will wrap up the future in match against Nakuru City Queens at Gems Cambridge International School in Langata road.
