The VAR officials who incorrectly ruled out Luis Diaz's goal for Liverpool against Tottenham are set to return to Premier League duty this weekend.
VAR official Darren England made the final call to rule out Diaz's goal for offside, incorrectly believing that the assistant referee had given the goal on the field and thus siding with the call.
Dan Cook, meanwhile, was assistant VAR.
Audio released by PGMOL after the incident (which you can view below) sparked outrage among Reds supporters - as did a report from the The Times that England and Cook had officiated in the UAE just 48 hours before the fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.England was due to be the fourth official for the following Sunday's fixture between Nottingham Forest and Brentford, but was replaced.
He was then set to be in charge for the Championship clash between Leicester City and Preston North End, before being removed from duty.Cook, meanwhile, was taken off duty for the London derby between Fulham and Chelsea.But both officials have now been reinstated and will each be involved in a game during the upcoming Premier League weekend.
England will be the fourth official for the match between Brentford and Burnley, while Cook is an assistant referee for Manchester United's trip to Sheffield United. Both games take place on Saturday.Speaking on 'Match Officials Mic'd Up' about what will be done to ensure a repeat of the Diaz saga does not occur, PGMOL chief Howard Webb explained: "We've put quite a lot of steps in place to ensure the error that we saw doesn't happen again.
"One of the things this brought into sharp focus is the need to reiterate some of those communication protocols which are really valuable in VAR to prevent this type of thing happening."We got all of the officials together, and we spoke about the need to go through that process very diligently."
