A Multi-Agency team has recovered more illegal firearms in the ongoing 'Operation Maliza Uhalifu’ in North Rift.
The two AK-47 rifles were recovered at Nachola and Marti Villages in Samburu North Sub-County.
“The firearms are under safe custody pending further administrative action,” National Police Service said.
The security team has said that the ongoing operation has continued to record success, as the team tightens its operations to return the situation to normalcy.
“The Multi-Agency security team is committed to ensuring that normalcy returns to peace and tranquility prevails in the 'Disturbed' and 'Dangerous' Areas,” NPS said.
On Monday, members of the public helped the security recover two more illegal AK-47 firearms.
One was recovered from Marti in Samburu County while the second one was recovered at Tiaty East Sub-County in Baringo County.
The operation which is aimed at bringing an end to the banditry attacks that have been troubling the North Rift regions for so long has now entered the sixth week.
NPS has urged Kenyans to continue supporting this crucial mission until all bandits who have been wreaking havoc in North Rift are flushed out.
Kenyans have been asked to share intelligence reports with the security agencies and help the police and the military in speeding up the operation.
