The top 15 clubs for net spend over the last nine years have been ranked.
It has been yet another record-breaking transfer window as clubs looked to improve their squads ahead of the 23/24 season.
The British transfer record was broken on two occasions by Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Professional League threw a huge spanner in the works as they spent big to lure some of Europe’s biggest stars to the Middle East.Cristiano Ronaldo became the first big-name player to move to Saudi Arabia when he signed for Al Nassr in January.
This summer, many big names followed in the Portuguese’s footsteps.
Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho joined Al Ittihad whilst Neymar, Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly went to Al Hilal.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson left Anfield to join Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.
Now, the top 15 clubs have been ranked by their net spend since 2014.
According to Football Observatory CIES, Manchester United came out as number one with a whopping net spend of -£1.4 billion. During the summer transfer window, the Old Trafford club spent big once again as they brought in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain were ranked second and third with a net spend of -£1.03 billion and -£1.01 billion respectively.
Despite only coming to the play this summer, Saudi Professional League club Al Hilal have already managed to break into the top 15. They were ranked 13th with a net spend of -£457 million.
