Thika Queens are after more than just the Kenya Women Premier league title this season and will be looking to play in the CAF Championship if they win the KWPL title this season after missing out on it two years ago.
Team Manager Glenston Muganga says they have been on an impressive run in the league and are currently second in the league they are thinking about it and it's one of their motivations to do better this season.
“It is something that has recently come up in our discussions especially with our good run this first leg of the season. We have always wanted to play in that regional league and only missed it due to the ban that was imposed on Kenya by FIFA but we are thinking about it,” said Muganga.
Muganga believes the urge to have their striker Wendy Atieno bagging the golden boot this season is pushing the team to better performance. So far she is the League’s top scorer with 13 goals five ahead of second placed Moreen Achieng of Vihiga Queens.
Muganga admits that the thought of clinching all these accolades is giving the team the thrust to win all their games and will be a major contributor to their campaign in the second leg of the KWPL.
“Our top scorer is Wendy Atieno with 13 goals while the second one has eight and we are really hopeful she scoops the golden boot this season because we are after all these accolades and going by her experience we she has more to give and we are yet to see her best in the pitch,” added Muganga.
Thika queens will be taking on Zetech Sparks this coming weekend at Gem School in a game dubbed the Thika road derby
