The reason why the Champions League logo contains eight stars has been revealed.
In European football, the Champions League is often seen as the premier club competition as the biggest clubs around the continent battle to become the champions of Europe.
Real Madrid are the record winners having won the trophy on 14 occasions, whilst Liverpool have the most Champions League wins amongst English teams with six.
Now, the reason behind the eight stars on the Champions League logo has been revealed.The eight stars on the logo represent the eight top teams for the first-ever Champions League back in 1992.
Rangers, Marseille, AC Milan, IFK Goteborg, Club Brugge, Porto, CSKA Moscow and PSV Eindhoven battled it out during the first-ever edition of the competition.
During that tournament, the likes of Romario, Marco van Basten, Rudi Voller and Ally McCoist were all involved.
The eight teams were split into two groups of four and after playing each other home and away, the winners of the group would advance to the final.
Scottish side Rangers missed out on the final against Milan after finishing one point behind Marseille.French side Marseille won three and drew three as they finished with nine points, whilst Rangers were second with eight points after winning two and drawing four matches.
In the other group, Milan came out on top after winning all six matches, with Swedish side IFK Goteborg in second place with a record of three wins and three defeats.
During the final, which was held at the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany, Marseille won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Basile Boli.
