Golden Arrows head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi admits he'll have to pay more attention to goalkeeper Ismail Watenga ahead of the DStv Premiership clash with SuperSport United on Tuesday.
Kick-off is at 5pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)
Abafana Bes'thende bounced back from the disappointing 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns with a 3-2 victory over newly-promoted Polokwane City in Mpumalanga on Saturday to climb up to fourth in the standings after picking up seven points from their opening four matches.
However, Vilakazi's side were made to sweat in the closing stages after Watenga flapped at a free-kick in the 53rd minute and missed the ball completely, which allowed an unmarked Lebohang Nkaki to head home at the back post to reduce the deficit to just one goal.
Vilakazi revealed he had words with Watenga after the game and feels the Uganda international needs to improve in terms of commanding his area better.
"Yes, I am disappointed because one thing I said in the team talk, I asked him 'are you aware that you are the tallest player on the field of play?'," the 40-year-old coach said.
"He was confused and I said 'you are the tallest because you have hands to catch the ball, to extend from the set-pieces'. So I was disappointed he came out but couldn't catch the ball. I think it is one department that he has to improve on.
"He helped us a lot and he made some good saves, but I think this thing of coming out for crosses [and failing to catch] is still a challenge. We will talk, pay attention and speak to the goalkeeper coach to help him in that department."
SuperSport maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they too came from behind to beat Stellenbosch 2-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium later that same evening.
The Pretoria giants made it back-to-back wins in the league as they closed within five points of local rivals Sundowns in second place with a game in hand.
Matsatsantsa head coach Gavin Hunt was critical of the pitch in their 1-0 triumph over Cape Town City at the TUT Stadium and praised his players for coping on another poor surface in Stellenbosch.
"In these conditions, it was going to be a battle. It was a battle. I thought we played well at times although it was difficult to play because of the surface. But I thought we adapted," Hunt said.
"They played the turnover all the time with us. It upset me a little bit that we, maybe, never had enough end product. But all in all, I thought to battle away and come here, and win was good. Not many teams are going to win, I don't think, under those conditions."
