A supercomputer has predicted the FULL Championship table for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
A meeting between Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton on Friday kicks off the new season of the Championship.
Southampton, who suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, are among the favourites to gain promotion to England's top flight. But the Opta supercomputer believe Southampton will finish OUTSIDE of the top six, meaning they won't return to the Premier League.
They're predicted to finish in seventh place, with Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough tipped to win the Championship ahead of Leicester City.
Coventry City, who lost to Luton in the Championship play-off final last season, Swansea City, who have been given a tag of the 'top six dark horses', Sunderland and Leeds United are backed to secure the play-off positions.Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, Bristol City and Huddersfield Town are predicted to complete the top half of the table. The Opta supercomputer reckons Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle and Birmingham City will be relegated from the Championship.
Norwich City, Stoke City, Watford, Preston North End, Hull City, Ipswich Town, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United are predicted to finish in the bottom half of the table.
