South African captain, Temba Bavuma, won the toss and chose to bowl first in their World Cup group match against the Netherlands at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday.
Rain delayed the toss for an hour and then returned shortly before the match was due to start resulting in a further delay and a reduction in overs from 50 per side to 43 once the contest finally got under way.
Victory for South Africa would maintain their 100 per cent record in the tournament and move them to the top of the log ahead of India and New Zealand on net run-rate while the Netherlands are still looking for their first victory after two defeats.
The weather forecast suggests there could be light showers throughout the course of the day although it seems likely that there will be sufficient dry time between the rain for a result to be achieved.
