Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a Siri chatbot designed to compete with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, with a debut expected at WWDC when iOS 27 rolls out. The big question on everyone’s mind: will Apple charge for it? Bloomberg reports that the model is roughly comparable to Gemini 3, which is too large to run fully on high-end Macs or mobile devices. This means Apple will likely rely on cloud-based processing for its most advanced features, adding to potential operational costs.
Charging for Siri could be tricky. While a subscription model could offset the high cost of AI infrastructure, users are accustomed to Siri being free. Apple could opt for a hybrid approach, offering basic AI functions at no cost while reserving advanced capabilities—like document analysis, complex content generation, or cross-device integrations—for paid tiers. The company has not yet confirmed pricing plans, leaving tech enthusiasts guessing ahead of iOS 27’s release.
For Apple fans, a fully integrated AI assistant could transform the way they interact with devices.
