Speaking during the swearing in ceremony conducted outside the county government headquarters in Siaya Town, Governor James Orengo said global demographic statistics currently indicate that more people were moving towards urbanization hence the need to move with the trend.
Orengo said that the earlier Kenyans realize that urbanization has caught up with us, the better, adding that the third world was currently caught up in a situation where it is struggling to catch up with the demands for development.
He challenged the members of Ugunja and Bondo municipal boards to ensure that the public get the best services and that the towns were well planned.
“In our planning, we must ensure that we plan in order to ensure that our people live in habitable and good environment where there is security, good infrastructure and amenities that we need in our daily lives” said the governor who was flanked by the speaker of the Siaya county assembly, George Okode and his deputy, Andericus Oduor Odongo and a host of members of the county assembly.
Orengo said that his government was out to bring change in the county and called on the local residents to support his government realize the dream.
“This will come about if we invest our resources in areas that matter” he said adding that agriculture and the Blue Economy form the key pillars of transformation and growth of Siaya county.
