Shujaa lost their two opening matches of the Singapore sevens on April 8 against France and the United States as their poor run in the Sevens Series continued.

In the match against France, Shujaa began strongly with Herman Humwa crashing over the line. Tony Omondi slotted home the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
The French who are third overall on the log fought back through Leraitre Paul and Jordan Sepho scoring a try each with one converted for a 12-7 lead.
Shujaa were not giving up without a fight and Kevin Wekesa crossed the whitewash with Omondi slotting the extras for a 14-12 lead at the interval.
On resumption, Alvin Otieno broke through three tackles before offloading the ball to Omondi who touched down for an unconverted try and a 19-12 lead.
The French stayed in the contest with a try by Jefferson Lee which was duly converted by Jean Pascal to tie the match at 19-19.
Kenya were in control of the match in the closing stages and looked poised for victory but a turnover by the French at the breakdown saw William Iraguha score a last-gasp try to break Kenyan hearts.
In the match against the USA, Kenya fell behind when Perry Baker and Lucas Lacamp saw Mike Friday's charges lead 14-0.
Skipper Nelson Oyoo halved the deficit with Omondi converting for a 14-7 result at the break.
On resumption, Alvin Otieno powered his way to the line to level the score. Baker restored USA's lead for a 21-14 score. George Ooro scored a late consolation try which was not converted.
