A major leak details Samsung’s Android XR headset weeks before expected launch, giving us a close look at what could be one of 2025’s biggest mixed reality reveals. Known internally as Project Moohan, Samsung’s new device could redefine premium XR experiences with an ultra-sharp display and built-in AI capabilities.
According to Android Headlines, the upcoming Samsung Android XR headset will feature a 4K micro-OLED display with an incredible 4,032 pixels per inch — a leap beyond the 3,386ppi found on Apple’s Vision Pro. This could make visuals sharper, colors richer, and immersive content more lifelike than ever before.
The report also mentions that the headset may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 processor, supporting 4.3K resolution at 90fps per eye. That means smoother motion and more responsive performance, ideal for gaming, entertainment, and creative work in mixed reality.
The leak detailing Samsung’s Android XR headset also points to advanced control options. The device reportedly includes multiple sensors — both on the front and inside — allowing users to navigate and interact using their eyes, hands, and voice.
Early demos suggest deep integration with Google’s Gemini AI assistant, which could let users control apps, access information, or communicate naturally in immersive environments.
Despite its power, the Samsung XR headset is said to weigh around 545 grams (19.2 ounces). It could deliver up to two hours of general use or 2.5 hours of video playback. The external battery pack, connected via a side port, may make it more balanced and comfortable during longer sessions.
Other design details include:
A dial for head strap adjustment
Cushioned interior for comfort
Detachable light shields to block out external light and enhance focus
Samsung first teased Project Moohan at its Unpacked event in January, signaling its big return to the XR market. With Apple and Meta already competing in this space, Samsung’s upcoming launch could add serious competition — especially with Android and Google AI backing the experience.
If the leak details Samsung’s Android XR headset accurately, this device might be the first real Android-powered rival capable of standing toe-to-toe with the Vision Pro.
