President William Ruto has arrived to officially open the 16th Annual general meeting and Africa Prosecutors Association Conference in Mombasa.
The President and his entourage arrived at around 10:30 on Monday at the conference that has attracted participants from 43 African countries.
He was accompanied by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Hajj, Solicitor general Kennedy Ogeto and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir among others.
Kenya is hosting the conference for the first time through the office of the director of public prosecution. The conference will run from January 29 to February 2, 2023.
The theme of the conference is 'Strengthening Co-ordination and Cooperation towards effective cross-border prosecution of Transnational organized crime.'
The Africa Prosecutors' Association was established in 2003 to enhance cooperation between prosecution agencies and authorities in Africa.
It also responds to rising transnational organised criminal activities in Africa, which undermine development, good governance, peace and stability on the African continent.
