Roy Keane aimed a brutal comment at Anthony Martial after Manchester United lost 2-0 to Tottenham.
United suffered their first loss of the Premier League season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to Pape Matar Sarr's strike and an own goal from Lisandro Martinez.
Ange Postecoglou's side were excellent in the Australian's first competitive home game in charge, and dominated much of the second half of the game.
United did have opportunities to score, with captain Bruno Fernandes missing a header from close range in the first half.Casemiro and Marcus Rashford both had openings, while Fernandes curled a free kick over the crossbar late on.
But United paid for their combined lack of ruthlessness in front of goal and poor defensive work with an away defeat.
And after the game, Keane called out Martial and several other United stars after the game.
Martial came off the bench on 85 minutes for United, replacing Rashford in the centre forward role.
However, except for a blocked shot late on, the Frenchman had little impact on proceedings.
And Keane criticised Martial, and team-mates Rashford, Fernandes and Mason Mount, in his post-match analysis on Sky Sports. He even went as far as suggesting that Ten Hag could have brought on former United icons Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside, who both played for the club in the 1980s, instead.
He claimed: "They're bringing on players like [Anthony] Martial. They're bringing on these players... you might as well bring on Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside. Martial's not going to get you out of trouble."Rashford played through the middle again. He's like a child up there. He's obviously not happy playing through the middle. His body language, his first few touches when he gets it, suggests, 'I don't want to play through the middle'. But you have to. You've got to do a job for the team tonight.
"You look at our captain [Fernandes], the senior players. These are established senior players."
Later, he continued: "I look at Mount, Fernandes, when they're out of position, they look like schoolboys in there. They haven't got the physicality to get the ball back."
