Roy Keane has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo when naming the five world-class players he played with during his Manchester United career.
Irishman Keane first joined United back in 1993 from Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder went on to represent the Old Trafford club 480 times, scoring 51 goals in the process.
Keane lifted seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups, four FA Community Sheilds, one Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup.Back in 2019, Keane named five world-class players that he played with at United.
As per The Sun, he told Sky Sports: “We never gave ourselves an opportunity to talk about players being world-class. But if I look back now, you'd have to class Giggsy [Ryan Giggs].
“I always class the world class players as lads who were doing it for nine, ten, 11 years - obviously Giggsy's done it for a lot longer, but to me, that's the key to being a really good player - you've got to be consistent.
“We see players now, they have a good month and [they're] patting themselves on the back. You have to be good for years and years, and Giggsy would have been a prime example.”
Apart from Ryan Giggs, Keane also picked Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona Mark Hughes and Denis Irwin.Speaking about Irwin, Keane said: “My God, imagine if Denis Irwin was playing now. He could play left-back, right-back, get you a goal, knew how to defend, never injured, a brilliant guy in the dressing room.
“Denis would be world class to me - and he's a Corkman!”
Although it was a surprise that Keane left out Ronaldo, it could be down to the fact that the pair only spent two seasons together at the club.
Keane eventually left United in 2005 after an explosive interview in which he criticised his own teammates after a 4-1 defeat by Middlesbrough.
