Rasmus Hojlund has been accused of making an 'unacceptable' gesture after scoring for Denmark against San Marino.
The Manchester United star was on target in his national team's 2-1 victory over the European minnows on Tuesday.
After the result, he slammed the San Marino players as he claimed he was 'targeted' during the Euro 2024 qualifier.
"They targeted me today, as you can see at the end. I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me," he said.The 20-year-old added: "You can see from the images that he only had one idea in mind. A yellow card is a joke."
Hojlund, who has been suffering from back problems since arriving at Old Trafford, was on the wrong end of a crunching challenge with a San Marino player appearing to target his lower back.
San Marino's Alessandro Tosi was asked about the young forward's damning claim following the game.
Tosi made his own claim as he accused Hojlund of celebrating in an 'unacceptable' manner.
He celebrated his goal by seemingly aiming a taunt at San Marino's defence as he performed a 'shush' celebration."That's not true. We only told him that he was not behaving properly. What he did was not necessary. He is a very strong striker, but he was not fair at all," he said.
The defender continued: “I haven't lost respect for him completely, but we expected better behaviour. His behaviour when celebrating was unacceptable.
"Hojlund plays in a league against defenders who are far more skilled, physical and tougher than us, so he should be used to these kinds of duels."
Erik ten Hag and Man United fans alike will be hoping Hojlund is fully fit for when they resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday against Sheffield United.
