Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday visited the former President Uhuru Kenyatta family-owned Northlands farm after it was on Monday invaded and a piece of it destroyed by goons during anti-government protests.
Mr. Odinga - flanked by other Azimio leaders such as Martha Karua, Jeremiah Kioni and Kalonzo Musyoka - toured the farm and assessed the damage after addressing a press conference in which he blamed President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for the invasion.
The said goons who stormed the property is said to have made away with at least 1400 sheep, all the while there was an attempt to carry out an almost similar attack by a separate group of thugs at Mr. Odinga’s Spectre Limited on Mombasa Road.
“The country is in the hands of men who are goons at heart while pretending to be leaders and statesmen. How does Ruto go to Germany and talk about attracting foreign investments to Kenya but back at home, he has put in place a machinery for vicious attacks on local investments,” the former premier said during his visit.
He had earlier taken a swipe at both President Ruto and DP Gachagua accusing them of being the masterminds behind the invasions, claiming that they are well known for causing mayhem in the nation.
"Yesterday the Ruto-Rigathi operation resurfaced in Northlands, Kisumu, Kibra, Mathare, Industrial area and other areas," he said.
"Violence, mayhem, invasion of farms, torching of homes and burning houses of worship are synonymous with Mr. Ruto. In this latest act of desperation by Ruto and Gachagua, we see a plot that will be extremely disastrous for the country’s long-term stability and economy."
The Azimio boss further warned that more property will be invaded in coming days, arguing that President Ruto's alleged action will resurface and poses a threat to the property of Kenyans.
"Let's make no mistake, nobody must pretend to be safe. Anyone in any part of the country has every reason to fear. Anyone with a sizeable piece of land or business must be very afraid," he said.
