Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has taken a swipe at President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua over the invasion of his gas company Spectre and the Uhuru Kenyatta family-owned estate, Northlands City.
The two premises were invaded by unknown persons on Monday during the opposition-led anti-government protests that witnessed the destruction and looting of property.
While addressing the press on Tuesday, Mr. Odinga accused President Ruto and his deputy of being the masterminds behind the invasions, claiming that they are well known for causing mayhem in the nation. "Yesterday the Ruto-Rigathi operation resurfaced in Northlands, Kisumu, Kibra, Mathare, Industrial area and other areas," he said.
"Violence, mayhem, invasion of farms, torching of homes and burning houses of worship are synonymous with Mr. Ruto. In this latest act of desperation by Ruto and Gachagua, we see a plot that will be extremely disastrous for the country’s long-term stability and economy."
The Azimio boss further warned that more property will be invaded in coming days, arguing that President Ruto's alleged action will resurface and poses a threat to the property of Kenyans.
"Let's make no mistake, nobody must pretend to be safe. Anyone in any part of the country has every reason to fear. Anyone with a sizeable piece of land or business must be very afraid," he said.
"We have every reason to believe that other properties will be invaded in the coming days."
He further opined that the Head of State's alleged invasion order might have a boomerang effect on him and his properties end up being invaded instead.
"Does his order for invasion of other people's lands amount to the invasion of his own? Time will tell," he said.
"Ruto has brought the class war here. He's keen to have a religious war and this is how it starts and when it starts there is no end until citizens turn on one another."
The former premier affirmed that they will not cower from conducting their nationwide march until their demands are met.
"Ruto must make no mistake, this struggle will march on stronger and mightier with his every vile response until our demands are met," he said.
"The cost of goods must come down, servers must be opened, the constitution of IEBC must be above board, reconsultative and bi-partisan."
