Thika Queens coach Fred Majani rued missed chances for their 2-2 draw with Kisumu All Starlets in the Kenya Women's Premier League on April 1.
Majani said failure to utilise chances has become a characteristic of his charges this season while the loss of top scorer Wendy Atieno to injury has been felt in the last few matches.
The maverick forward continues to recover from a head injury she sustained last month and is expected to miss the trip to Nakuru City Queens next weekend.
The draw was a major setback for the 2021 WPL champions, as they lost further ground in the race for this season's title if Majani is to be believed.
"We dropped important points that we were expected to pick with ease but that is football. We created a lot of chances but the finishing touch was missing. It is a pity that we beat them 4-0 in the reverse fixture but we couldn't score the winner, especially with the home advantage," Majani said.
"We have to regroup now and focus on the Nakuru match which will really define our season because Nakuru is tough to beat in their backyard. Wendy's injury continues to haunt us. We miss her leadership and predatory nature in the final third.
Elsewhere, Nakuru edged out Kangemi Ladies 3-2 in a pulsating encounter at City Stadium. Mumias-based Wadadia also won by the same margin against Trans Nzoia Falcons while Ulizi Starlets recorded a goalless draw with Bunyore Starlets.
