The President of the Kenya Volleyball Federation Waithaka Kioni has died.
According to a statement by National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) President Paul Tergat, Waithaka passed after a short illness at 1 am on Sunday morning.
“The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) sadly announces the unfortunate sudden passing on of our 2nd Vice-President and President of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF), the Late, Mr. Waithaka Kioni early this morning in Nairobi,” Tergat’s statement reads in part.
“Mr. Kioni was reportedly taken ill yesterday and rushed to hospital, where he succumbed around 1 am this morning,”
Tergat has mourned the deceased as 'an ardent volleyball sports leader', saying the Olympics committee was devastated by the loss of its Executive Member.
