The 2023-24 Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) returns from the international break this weekend, with log leaders Orbit College looking to maintain their perfect start to the season.
Orbit have trumped Platinum City Rovers and Milford FC in the opening two rounds, and will look to become the first MFC team to rack up three wins this term when they host Black Leopards at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
At the same time, Milford will chase their first points of the season when they host University of Pretoria at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
The round opens on Friday afternoon with Maritzburg United taking on Casric Stars at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium – an early chance for one of the teams to leapfrog to the top of the log on seven points and put the pressure on those who play later in the weekend.
A busy Saturday is headlined by an intriguing clash between Hungry Lions and newly promoted Upington City at the GWK Park in Kimberley. Lions are looking to position themselves as one of the top contenders for a rise to the DStv Premiership, but Upington’s momentum and spirit are a potent mix.
Saturday also sees JDR Stars and Baroka FC clash at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium; Dobsonville Stadium will play host to NB La Masia facing Magesi FC; City Roves and Marumo Gallants will do battle at the Isak Steyl Stadium; and Venda FC will host Pretoria Callies at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
