Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has expressed disappointment in the public pronouncements Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is making against public servants who served in the previous regime.
The Kisii senator stated that DP Gachagua should stop making accusations against individuals and instead follow due process through the courts.
Speaking on local TV Show on Monday, Senator Onyonka noted that DP Gachagua should have already furnished all investigative bodies with information regarding the allegations he has been floating in his recent public appearances.
He referenced the threats made by DP Gachagua on Sunday that he will soon release the names of individuals who allegedly looted billions from public coffers in the last three months of President Uhuru's administration.
"He is a senior state officer, in fact he should have already given that information to the DCI and everybody else. This is what you call the weaponization of your institutions of governance so that then you can emasculate their performance for political reasons," he said.
"Can't we allow the law to take its course, every single day the DP is constantly accusing people. Let them use the normal due process and take them to court.
A seemingly agitated Onyonka went on to warn DP Gachagua to stop "taking us through this circus that you are taking us around" and instead be careful with his sentiments given the fact that "he is a clever man".
The Kisii Senator added that the Second in Command should instead let the security agencies do their work and not make unverifiable pronouncements against senior citizens.
"He should know the implications of the things he is saying. You are trying people in public who are not able to come defend themselves. How do you exonerate yourself from this mess when you're already being accused of being a thief in public," he said.
"Who made the Deputy President an Ombudsman? Why is he expected to make announcements on TV and Radio? What is he? He is just the Deputy President he is not DCI or EACC."
