One person has died after he was hit by a vehicle at Kiangwaci area along the Sagana-Karatina highway in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.
Residents said that the deceased was just about to board a Kibingoti-bound matatu when an oncoming vehicle hit him.
“He was on his way from work before the vehicle rammed into him. He used to work in this area,” they added.
Meanwhile, locals decried a spike in cases of road accidents along the busy route.
“There has been a rise in cases of road accidents along the Makutano-Sagana-Karatina highway,” they noted.
The called on the contractor to put up proper signage and speed bumps in order to avert such incidents.
The body of the deceased has been taken to a nearby mortuary with the vehicle towed to Sagana Police Station.
