Omalla scored in either half as he continued his rich vein of scoring form, taking his tally this season to six goals and clear in the golden boot hunt.
While Gor solidified their hold on second spot in the standings, Leopards continued on their dry spell, going for the sixth match without victory and pressure piling on head coach Tom Juma.
The Ingwe faithful made their desist rations known with shouts of “Juma must go” renting the air just after Gor scored their second.
It wasn’t exactly a bad performance by Leopards, but they were punished for mistakes.
It was Gor however who had the first sniff at goal, as early as the third minute. Lawrence Juma’s shot from distance was blocked by a forest of legs inside the box, and the loose ball ricocheting to Omala who was perched unmarked on the left.
However, Levis Opiyo made a fantastic save to keep out the close range effort.
On the other end, Ingwe were slowly growing into the game, and they were passing the ball around well. They had some two back to back chances in the 17th and 20th minutes. First, a cross from Cliff Nyakeya landed on Boniface Kweyu at the edge of the box but the latter’s shot on the volley flew over.
Three minutes later, Victor Otieno who had been electric in the first few minutes had a go at goal from distance with a well taken shot which Kevin ‘Saha’ Omondi parried behind for a corner.
It was from this set piece that Gor got their opening goal on the other end. The ball was defended by Kennedy Onyango into Vincent Mahiga’s feet, the Ingwe left back recycling the ball back into the box.
But it was met by a strong defensive header from Geoffrey Ochieng, the ball landing on Austin Odhiambo picked up the ball and sent Omala through on goal. Opiyo raced from his area to try cut out the supply but the K’Ogalo frontman chipped him over for the opener.
AFC were dented, but they fought on. Omondi in Gor’s goal had a few blips and moment of nerves, this being his first derby. In the 33rd minute, an innocent looking dipping cross from Cliff Miheso saw him sprawling on the floor to turn the ball behind for a corner.
Minutes later, he went to the air to pick out a cross, but he dropped it behind. Lucky for him, Ingwe striker Brian Yakhama wasn’t close enough.
In the second half, Gor were faster off the blocks and just quarter of an hour in, they had doubled their lead.
Austin Odhiambo was provider once again, dancing his way on the right before slapping in a low cross that was easily tapped home by Omalla for his second.
He should have had a hattrick minutes later, when he used his pace to latch onto a long ball. His strong volley was punched by Opiyo, and he ran onto the rebound but he struck it over.
Juma made changes for AFC, bringing on Hassan Beja and Jaffary Owiti for Cliff Nyakeya and Miheso.
In response, Gor’s Jonathan McKinstry refreshed his midfield, bringing in Ernest Wendo, Rodgers Ouma and Alpha Onyango for Kevin Juma, Lawrence Juma and Patrick Sibomana.
With the changes, Gor managed to calm the midfield and control proceedings.
Ingwe had a late chance to make for a nervous ending, but substitute Maxwell Otieno saw his effort brilliantly kept out by goallie Omondi.
