Veteran singer Mwanaisha Abdalla aka Nyota Ndogo has raised complaints after being ranked number two among the richest artists in Mombasa.
Speaking in a video she posted on Instagram, the mother of two wondered about the criteria used to determine the richest artists in the county.
Nyota Ndogo pointed out that she did not have enough money in her account to make her number two of the list.
"I have been assigned number two to the rich artists in Mombasa. How are they doing this research? Because my bank is empty," she said.
The Coast-born musician made it clear that she is also struggling to find money to meet her needs.
She noted that she is just an ordinary woman running a hotel business in Voi town. In addition, she complained that researchers who list her among the richest artists only put her at risk of being robbed.
"I don't know how you got that wealth. Guys, when the thugs read, I started to be harassed. I'm followed even when I'm going to refuel the car. Don't even put me on the list because I'm normal," she said.
She explained to the robbers who have been following her that she has nothing to steal. "I am a mother, I don't know where that wealth comes from. Tell us how you know we are rich," she said.
Nyota emphasized that it has been a long time since she released music. Following that, she suggested that her name should be included in the list of artists.
"I would put you in the list of struggling artists. Artists who devote themselves to other things to earn food and school fees. That means I am struggling. But in terms of wealth, forget me," she said.
She also asked researchers not to focus on the wealth of her white husband Henning Nielsen when looking at his net worth.
"Put that white man aside. I will always count myself if he is not there," she said. She made it clear that she always puts herself out more without relying on her husband so that when they separate, she won't be left struggling.
