The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that three Nigerian superstars will headline the NBA All-Star Game 2023 halftime show with an Afrobeats-themed performance.
The 72nd NBA All-Star Game, which will be played at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, will tip off on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 4am Kenyan time.
The three Nigerian singers set to thrill the crowd are; the 2021 Grammy Award-winning Burna Boy, the 2023 Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated Tems, as well ‘Calm down’ hitmaker Rema.
After this Afrobeats performance, the NBA family will honour Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James for becoming the league’s all-time scoring leader.
Thereafter, global superstar Post Malone who will perform a medley of hits prior to tip-off, before actor Vin Diesel, the star of the upcoming ‘Fast X’ movie, takes to the stage to welcome fans to the evening.
NBA, in a press release, also revealed that Grammy Award-nominated artist Jewel will sing the U.S. national anthem at the NBA All-Star game.
Juno Award-winning and platinum-selling artist Jully Black will, on the other hand, sing the Canadian national anthem.
Utah singing group The Bonner Family will perform the U.S. national anthem before the 2023 Jordan Rising Stars game on Friday, before belting out the U.S. national anthem and the Black national anthem ‘Lift Every Voice,’ at the NBA HBCU Classic on Saturday.
