National Cohesion and Integration Commission have joined other Kenyans in commending President Ruto and Raila's engagement to have a dialogue.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the commission chairman Samuel Kobia said the two leaders deserve support for the courageous steps they have taken and urged Kenyans to do the same.
“As a commission mandated to facilitate peaceful coexistence in Kenya, we fully support the process and encourage all Kenyans to do the same for a better, peaceful and prosperous Kenya,” Kobia said.
He also applauded the two leaders for taking the courageous step to reach across the political divide.
“This kind of action signifies statesmanship and insightful leadership. Similarly, we commend Raila Amolo Odinga for accepting the olive branch and calling off the scheduled demonstrations,” Kobia said.
He said that Kenyans should do their part to safeguard and sustain the peace they are enjoying.
“It is our collective responsibility to support our political leaders to actualise their commitment and plans towards a harmonious, peaceful and united Kenya society,” Kobia said.
Further, he added that they will be convening a series of national conversations on economic prosperity, political stability and social cohesion in Kenya.
“These conversations shall target Kenyans from all walks of life to deliberate on the critical issues affecting the lives of the ordinary wananchi and the middle class as well,” Kobia added.
“Recommendations from the forums will contribute to, and enrich ideas and practical activities of the new trajectory evolving from the dialogue initiative.”
