Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has thanked President William Ruto for facilitating the employment of teachers across the country.
However, Salasya decried having received only seven teachers in his constituency.
"Because of this I am planning to employ 50 primary teachers each Sh10,000 a month through Harambee on March 1st to raise Sh6million," Salasya tweeted.
The money to be raised at Harambee, the MP said, will be used to pay the teachers.
The TSC has finished the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers.
Most of the teachers employed have started reporting to schools and TSC is expected to train the teachers deployed to junior secondary in preparation for the Competency-Based Curriculum.
TSC chief executive officer Nancy Macharia said the teachers who were already trained will retool the newly hired teachers.
“We target to train 90,000 teachers between January and April,” Macharia said.
Despite the employment of the teachers, complaints have emerged that junior secondaries are still understaffed.
Most schools are said to have inadequate teachers to cover the subjects to be taught.
In the latest recruitment, TSC employed 10,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms while 25,550 teachers were employed as interns.
9,000 of permanent and pensionable recruits were deployed to secondary schools while 1000 were taken to primary schools.
21,550 slots are for intern teachers for Junior Secondary Schools and another 4,000 intern teachers were hired for primary schools.
