According to Romano, Olise's release clause is worth £35 million - a potentially attractive option for both City and Chelsea.
Quoting his original report, Romano wrote on Thursday: "Release clause confirmed. Man City and Chelsea interest confirmed. Olise, one to follow in the next days/weeks."There may be a significant stumbling block for both sides, however, with Olise currently recovering from a hamstring tear that he suffered while playing for France at the U21 Euros.
Revealing the extent of the problem, Hodgson explained (quotes via London Evening Standard): "It was a serious injury which required an operation. He's well into his rehabilitation but it's going to take a bit longer for him to recover ... we certainly won't be seeing him for a period of time."
One option for City and Chelsea, therefore, could be to make a move for the attacking midfielder in January - but there could still be significant movement during the current transfer window.
