Mason Mount's injury is 'worse than feared' as the Manchester United star faces a spell on the sidelines in a major blow to Erik ten Hag.
Mount joined Man United from Chelsea during the summer transfer window in a deal worth £55 million.
He's started his new side's opening two Premier League games but has failed to make a great impression.
The 24-year-old endured an underwhelming league debut for Man United in their 1-0 victory over Wolves, with his statistics making for damning reading.
He then started in midfield as the Red Devils lost 2-0 at Tottenham last weekend. Again, he was unable to influence the match, with Chelsea fans making a bold claim after a video of him went viral following the defeat. To make matters worse, the England international picked up a hamstring injury, which could keep him out for up to SIX weeks, according to The Daily Mail.
That would mean he miss Man United's league clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and the big showdown versus Arsenal the following weekend.
Not to mention England's Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and friendly with Scotland.
Mount's injury could also see him be unavailable for selection for Man United's league matches with Brighton, Burnley and Crystal Palace.
The injury to Mount could see Ten Hag sign another midfielder before the transfer window slams shut next week.
Sofyan Amrabat continues to be linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay still on the club's books. As for Mount, he was subjected to criticism by Roy Keane, who slammed his showing against Spurs.
On his old team's performance, he said: "They just looked lightweight.
"You look at the six players high up the pitch, when you’re out of possession, they’re giving you absolutely nothing.
"You can almost carry one or two that don’t give you much but can be match-winners, but United are carrying too many players who are not really at it."
The Irishman added: "When these players think, 'okay I’ll forgive you for not doing the defensive stuff but you better be really good when you’re getting on it', and they’re not doing that.
"When I look at Mount and Fernandes, out of possession they look like schoolboys."
