Mark Goldbridge insisted Manchester United will win the Champions League this season.
United are hoping to push on after an encouraging first season under the stewardship of Erik ten Hag.
Having qualified for the Champions League after a season languishing in Europe’s second-tier competition, United have spent over £150million this summer, in a bid to simultaneously compete at the Premier League summit and in Europe.
Ten Hag has added Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund to his ranks, while the club are also thought to be interested in Sofyan Amrabat and Jean-Clair Todibo.
United have improved significantly in the past year, having managed third place, a Carabao Cup triumph and an FA Cup final defeat last time out. And Goldbridge has suggested that should the club’s progress continue to be linear, they will win the Champions League this term.
Goldbridge on Champions League
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goldbridge admitted he thinks United will win the Champions League this season.
While making his Champions League predictions, the United YouTuber said: “This is the clip-able bit. Manchester United. Manchester United - Champions League winners.“I don’t know why. It might be the Madri, but it’s just been in my head for too long.
“I’m getting the words Man Utd - Champions League. I don’t even know why.
“It could be red-tinted glasses. It could be because I support Man United but sometimes in life you’ve got to say, ‘I’m going to roll a six’ before you’ve rolled it.
“I just think Man Utd could win the cup. I think Man Utd could win the Champions League.”
United are set to sanction departures before dipping back into the transfer market. The Old Trafford club have rejected a £30million bid from West Ham for Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay, while Harry Maguire has also garnered interest from the London club.
Moreover United are also hoping to push through the sales of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek and Brazil international Fred this week.
