Harry Maguire is set to receive a substantial pay-off from Manchester United ahead of his imminent move to West Ham.
The Irons saw a £20 million bid rejected following on from Maguire being stripped of the captaincy by Erik ten Hag but a second offer of £30 million has been agreed between the two clubs.
A recent report stated personal terms are "not expected to be a problem", with Maguire set to join fellow England international James Ward-Prowse in moving to the London Stadium.According to The Sun, Maguire is having to take a hefty wage-cut in order to join West Ham. He had two years left on his United contract and was earning £190,000-a-week.
His salary will drop to £120,000-a-week at West Ham, who are apparently considering making him their new permanent skipper.
But in order to make the transfer happen, it's claimed United are paying Maguire a severance fee of £6 million to offset his upcoming wage decrease.Maguire became the world's most expensive defender when he joined United from Leicester for £80 million in 2019 and he was appointed as captain in the middle of his first season after Ashley Young left for Inter Milan.He struggled for gametime in Erik ten Hag's first season at the helm and found himself out of the side for large spells.
The former Hull and Sheffield United man was then removed as captain and replaced by Bruno Fernandes in pre-season.
Despite not actively seeking an exit and being happy to fight for his place, Maguire has now accepted that his days at Old Trafford are numbered.West Ham have also been interested in Maguire's United teammate Scott McTominay but that deal now looks unlikely, particularly with Fred the subject of a bid from Turkish side Fenerbahce.
United, meanwhile are said to be looking for a Maguire replacement and have identified Benjamin Pavard, Jean Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba as their top target.
