Manchester United have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
United sent their director of football negotiations to Florence this morning to thrash out a deal as they desperately tried to secure Amrabat's signature.
Erik ten Hag's side launched a loan proposal for Amrabat on Thursday evening, with The Athletic reporting that they offered a €2 million fee to take the 27-year-old on loan for the season.
However, the report added that United wanted a January break clause to be inserted, meaning Fiorentina would only receive half of that fee if the Manchester club were to terminate the contract.Now, a deal has finally been agreed between both clubs.Romano has revealed that United and Fiorentina have come to an agreement on a deal which will see Amrabat move to Old Trafford on an initial loan.
Ten Hag's side will pay an initial loan fee to sign the Morocco midfielder, with a buy clause also in place.
He wrote: "Sofyan Amrabat, new Manchester United player - here we go confirmed."Loan deal on €10m fee plus buy clause for June 2024 worth €20m plus €5m add-ons if Man United want Sofyan to stay on long term.
"On his way to Manchester shortly."Amrabat's contract at Fiorentina expires next summer, which would potentially explain the high loan fee involved in the deal for the midfielder to move to Old Trafford.
He is set to become United's fifth summer signing, after deals were completed for goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, midfielder Mason Mount and forward Rasmus Hojlund.
The midfielder may take time to get up to speed, however, as he has only played 45 minutes for Fiorentina, including pre-season, since last season's Europa Conference League final defeat to West Ham in June.
