Galatasaray came from behind twice on Tuesday night to secure a dramatic 3-2 win in their Champions League clash against Manchester United.
It was another disappointing result for Erik ten Hag's side, who have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions.
They did, however, look dangerous in the early stages at Old Trafford – a recurring theme throughout the early stages of this campaign.
Rasmus Hojlund, who was United's Player of the Match by some distance, bagged an impressive brace, which included a wonderful solo effort to regain the lead.
But the home side capitulated in the final 20 minutes. Muhammed Akturkoglu equalised for the Turkish outfit and it looked like they would go ahead when Casemiro was sent off following an abysmal pass from Andre Onana.Mauro Icardi missed from the spot but three minutes later, after some more slack defending from United, the Argentine forward made up for his miss with a deft chip over Onana.
Galatasaray defended their slender lead, and when the whistle blew at full-time, loud boos rang around Old Trafford.Here's how social media reacted to United's performance on Tuesday night.
One fan wrote: "Galatasaray has never won on English soil before but guess what, Man Utd gave them their first win at Old Trafford," while another commented: "Onana has been unable to use his hands and his feet tonight. Dreadful."A third said: "United’s tendency to collectively implode in a short period of time remains a massive issue and Ten Hag, for all his rhetoric about rules and culture, doesn’t appear any closer to gripping it & it’s getting worse. United look broken, in so many ways."
A fourth added: "Every week my faith in Ten Hag decreases - his favouritism for blatant underperformers is impossible to ignore, and is part of the reason behind the mess we've been led into. His decisions in the market have been extremely questionable (our only two good signings were supposedly not his targets). There is no tactical or mental cohesion, and no accountability to seen. Things have to change, and fast."In the first-half, Galatasaray forward Wilfried Zaha celebrated scoring an equaliser against his former club by cupping his ears to the Old Trafford crowd.
He did so just six minutes after Hojlund opened the scoring in the Champions League Group A clash.
