David Ornstein has provided a big update on the future of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
Man United have yet to make their decision on the 21-year-old, having initially expected to make a call ahead of the 2023/24 season.
It was reported that chief executive Richard Arnold had informed members of the club's leadership that Man United planned to bring Greenwood back to the squad.
However, the reported plan was met with backlash as it was alleged that some staff members 'discussed resigning' if the Red Devils continued with their idea to bring Greenwood back, while some felt 'ashamed' at the club's decision.Ornstein has since issued another update on the situation regarding Greenwood, claiming that for Man United "all scenarios still remain open".
Speaking in an interview with NBC Sports, he said: "The official line from Manchester United is that there is no final decision yet and that all scenarios remain open to them.
"And they are planning for them, such as re-integrating Mason Greenwood. Keep him and loan him out."
The journalist added: "Sell him or work with their lawyers to actually dismiss him. We’re expecting to hear some sort of update from Manchester United as early as tomorrow."Greenwood has not played for Man United since the 2021/22 season. He was arrested in January 2022 and was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He denied all the charges and they were dropped earlier this year.
Greenwood, who graduated from the club's youth academy, has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances during his spell at Old Trafford.
He bagged six goals in all competitions in the 2021/22 campaign, having netted 12 goals in all competitions the season before and scored 17 goals in all competitions in his first full term at the club.
