Police in Kirinyaga have launched a manhunt for a 43-year-old man who allegedly killed his brother in Mutithi, Mwea in a suspected sibling rivalry case.
Mwea West police commander Mbatian Kantai said the suspect got into a heated quarrel with his brother and used a blunt object to hit his forehead, eventually causing the death.
The deceased's wife on Tuesday morning narrated how the suspect stormed their home on Monday at 9 pm where he threatened to kill his 45-year-old brother.
She said he also hurled insults at his brother as they all watched in silence.
"My husband later got out of the house when he could not take it anymore. He(the suspect) then followed him outside as he insulted him. My husband got provoked and that's when he answered him and a quarrel between them ensued," she said.
The wife said the suspect was armed with a blunt object that looked like an iron bar which he used to hit his brother to death.
She is now pleading with the government to pursue the suspect so that justice can be served.
In addition, she is pleading for financial help as her husband was the sole family breadwinner.
"I could not believe my eyes when I saw my husband lying in a pool of blood. I screamed for help which attracted neighbours," she said.
The deceased's elder brother urged the police to pursue the suspect and bring him to book.
He said the suspect left his cell phone at the murder scene as he escaped.
The body of the deceased is now lying at the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary.
